Follow Me Back

I started this book knowing it’s going to be a very relatable read. A fangirl main character? Sign me in!

Here are my thoughts about the book;

Tessa Hart: Tessa is one of the most relatable fictional characters I’ve ever read about. I mean, she’s a fangirl, and with that alone who wouldn’t relate, right? From what I can tell Tessa uses her idols as a…. (I’d like to say distraction but no.) motivation, maybe? A reason for her to not feel alone because she see herself in them. She can hear the deeper meaning of Eric’s songs more than anyone else.

Eric Thorn: I have to say, I don’t really liked Eric the first time we met him. I mean, I can understand why he feels and thinks that way but I just don’t like that he’s making it as a whole? ehe. I can’t find the right words to describe my feelings for Eric on those first few chapters but as we go on to the book and read more about his state of mind, I understand him even more. How lonely and unhappy he feels with his record label…

The Adults: and by ‘adults’ I meant, Eric’s manager and Tessa’s mom. CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT HOW UNSUPPORTIVE THEY ARE? Their kids need them and all they do is make them feel sorry for themselves even more! Eric’s manager only think about what Eric should be doing to please the people! HE CAN’T EVEN BOTHER TO TALK TO ERIC WHAT HE REALLY WANT TO DO! And Tessa’s mom? Oh dear… that chapter when they are about to do the desensitization, instead of making Tessa feel confident, all she did was to complain how tired she is and that they should do it quick. Okay, sure she’s tired but for someone who has agoraphobia? She should’ve known better than to do and say all those harmful words to Tessa.

Dr. Regan: I really liked her at the beginning because she’s there to talk to Tessa about all the things she’s dealing with. She’s her therapist, it’s her job, sure but I really thought she’d developed something for Tessa. Like, she’d do everything to make her feel safe but what did she do? SHE BAILED ON HER! Turns out all she cares about was her job!

Blair and MET: I don’t even know how to feel about this two. How can they possibly feel that way towards their idols? They remind me so much of what k-pop fans called the ‘sasaeng fans’ heehee

The Plot of this book is really interesting. I thought it’s just going to be the ‘Fan and the celebrity fell in love with eachother’ trope. And well, it is. But there are also a lot of twist and turns in this book. So many unexpected happenings!

I was shooketh with that ending! I thought Eric and Tessa reached their Happily Ever After but no, of course not. Another crime happened. But who did it? I guess, we’ll have to wait for the next book to find out!

Do you have any theories on who and how that ending happened? Let’s talk about it!

Thanks for reading my blog! Annyeong!
